Today’s wise words from great coaches is another one from Greg Glassman.

“Typically the world’s best athletes are minimalists when it comes to their training. They work hard and fast with few exercises. They master the fundamentals and work with them for years. This is the secret that no one wants to hear.”

More is not always better. As experienced coaches we’ve seen the trend of personal training gurus tag themselves as “innovative” since the early 2000’s. We think this does far more damage than good. This idea of mashing up 2 or 3 exercises into one mega-movement takes the focus away from the benefits of the original movement. This really is just expensive exer-tainment. 

Moral of the story: If you find yourself rowing for the second time this week, smile and do it as best you can.
